It’s an unconventional approach, but one the 4A schools in the 4A/3A Greater St. Helens League are ready to embrace.
Starting next fall, the area’s Class 4A football teams will face each other not once — but twice — per season for, at least, the 2026 and 2027 seasons, said league president Stephen Baranowski. The new double round-robin format increases league play to six games apiece for Battle Ground, Camas, Skyview, and Union.
“The more we talked,” Baranowski said, “the more we realized we don’t have to like it — it just has to make a lot of sense. And it does.”
The first half of league play will take place in Weeks 3, 4, and 5, followed by 4A/3A GSHL crossover games in Week 6. The second half of the schedule will resume in Weeks 7, 8, and 9 to complete the six-game league slate. All
