MADISON, Wis. -- A new male polar arrived at the Henry Vilas Zoo on Friday.

The zoo said Siku is here and thriving in his new environment. Siku is weighing in at just over 1200 pounds.

He spent the weekend getting acclimated to his new digs and was introduced to the female polar bear Berit.

Siku's arrival coincides with the anticipated arrival of Nora, a female polar bear that is set to come to Madison from the Oregon Zoo in Portland. The Henry Vilas Zoo said it is waiting for the government to reopen so it can apply for transportation permits.

In related news, two grizzly bears, Ash and Lexi, were relocated to Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago.
