INDIANAPOLIS — Barnes United Methodist Church on the near northwest side of Indianapolis is celebrating 146 years as a congregation.

Senior pastor Rev. Dr. Charles Harrison said people traveled from across the country to attend worship services on Sunday.

"The oldest church in this neighborhood, in this part of the city," said Harrison, "so we were really excited about that."

Sunday service was quite the celebration, Harrison said. Afterward, a church goer noticed something strange out back.

"Someone took a brick and threw the brick through the window," said Harrison. "You can see the glass broken. Behind this window is a big area where we have food and supplies."
