Edmonton police say a 55-year-old man is dead following an alleged assault earlier this month, and a 40-year-old man has been charged.
The Edmonton Police Service says officers were called to an assault at 109 Street and 100 Avenue on Oct. 19 around 2:20 a.m.
Police say officers arrived to find the victim, 55-year-old Arvi Singh Sagoo, unconscious. He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he died five days later. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.
Kyle Papin, 40, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. Additional charged related to Sagoo’s death are pending.
Papin is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 4.
The EPS homicide unit is continuing to investigate.
