WALLACE, N.C. (WITN) - An investigation is underway after a Wallace man was arrested on multiple counts of breaking into a vehicle.
Lamonty Chester was charged with five counts of breaking or entering a motor vehicle, two counts of breaking or entering a motor vehicle with theft, and two counts of larceny.
Wallace officers were called to Southerland Village Apartments over the summer for a dispute between two people. Police got reports that one of them was armed.
Police say they spoke to the Apartment 303 residents and smelled marijuana coming from inside. A subsequent search revealed several items that police say may have been stolen during prior vehicle break-ins, including identification, social security, and bank cards.
