Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a body of a White female around 1:25 p.m. Monday in a swampy area behind 71 Birch St. near Kendall Pond Road, Derry Police said in a news release.

Crime investigative unit personnel remained on the scene near the newly built Derry Plumbing and Heating building Monday afternoon after responding officers found the unidentified female at the base of an embankment, lying on the edge of the retention pond behind the business. She was deceased, the release stated.

Investigators located video from a few days earlier that showed the woman walking alone to the area and that she appeared to be ill or impaired. She stumbled and fell, landing near the pond where she passed away, the release said. Her location was not easily visi
