ROCK VALLEY, Iowa (KTIV) - In late June of 2024, heavy rain in the northern parts of the United States brought catastrophic flooding to parts of Northwest Iowa.

One community hit hard was the city of Rock Valley in Sioux County.

Waters rose on the Rock River and a creek that weaves through the town in June 2024. The north and west end of Rock Valley, including the town’s Main Street, were under 27 feet of water in a matter of hours.

More than 500 homes had water damage, roughly a quarter of them damaged beyond repair. Among the homes flooded, several businesses were, too. Many of those called Rock Valley’s Main Street home.

Today, scars from the flood have been replaced with beautiful storefronts along the city’s center. Most of the businesses that were there at the time of the flood
