Here’s something that might give you hope: The Blue Jays have never lost Game 3 of the World Series.
They won it in 1992, when Juan Guzman pitched an eight-inning gem and Candy Maldonado hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the ninth. And they won it in 1993, when Toronto’s top six hitters — Henderson, White, Molitor, Carter, Alomar and Fernandez — combined to go 13-for-24 and slug their way to a 10-3 win. In both cases, the win put the Jays up 2-1 in the series.
And we all know how those series ended.
In fact, according to Sportsnet, when a best-of-seven World Series is tied 1-1, the winner of Game 3 goes on to win the series 68.9 per cent of the time.
