A 2.5 magnitude earthquake struck central Maryland late Monday afternoon, officials said.
The small quake occurred at 5:17 p.m. with its epicenter just outside Columbia, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. Data from the agency indicates that the tremor was felt as far as Silver Spring.
