The heavy rainfall from Sunday night’s storm washed out roadways and flooded homes across Brevard County.
“I mean, there’s just water everywhere,” Amanda Wyatt said.
She spent Monday helping her parents clean up the mess inside their home in Cocoa. The water levels rose up to their home, seeping inside and flooding the first floor.
“At 11:30 last night [Sunday], the county said, ‘Well, we came out and turned on the pump, but it was too late,’” Wyatt said. “The alerts came too late for flash floods. There just wasn’t time.”
Her father, Tony Williams, has lived in his home since 2006. He doesn’t have flood insurance because he said he doesn’t live in a flood zone.
