The Minnesota Vikings are caught between a rock and a hard place a week before the Nov. 4 NFL trade deadline.

While Carson Wentz's injury update could force the Vikings to peruse the quarterback trade market, they might want to think twice before making a deal.

Per ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, Wentz, who has started the team's past five games in place of second-year pro J.J. McCarthy (ankle), was placed on injured reserve and will undergo left shoulder surgery, ending his 2025 season.

As Schefter noted in a follow-up social media post, that leaves the Vikings thin at quarterback, with McCarthy and 2025 undrafted free-agent Max Brosmer the only two on the active roster.
