CHILTON, Texas — A single-engine airplane went down in a field in Falls County in the early morning of Monday, Oct. 27, flipping upside down after an engine failure, the pilot says.
Both occupants of the plane survived without major injuries.
The crash occurred around 7:40 a.m. north of Highway 7 and County Road 414, prompting an immediate response from the Falls County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The pilot, who has three years of flying experience, told 6 News he was piloting his Kit Fox 3 aircraft with a passenger when the engine suddenly failed during a nighttime flight.
The pilot managed to locate an open field and execute an emergency landing. However, the small aircraft flipped over upon touchdown, coming to rest upside down in the grass.
