NEW YORK — Cinemark announced Monday a major expansion of its IMAX offerings, including the addition of new IMAX 70mm film projection systems at three theaters across the U.S.
The deal between Cinemark and IMAX Corporation covers 17 locations total and will make all of Cinemark's U.S. IMAX theaters equipped with the company's advanced laser projection technology. The theater chain will also add four new IMAX with Laser systems in the U.S. and explore adding one in South America.
The three new 70mm film projectors will be installed at Cinemark Seven Bridges in Woodridge, Illinois, outside Chicago; Cinemark Carefree Circle in Colorado Springs; and Cinemark Tinseltown in Rochester. All three are scheduled to be operational before director Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey" opens July 17, 202
