WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - The Kansas Senate has secured enough signatures to petition for a special session on redistricting.
“The Kansas Senate Republican caucus has secured the signatures needed to exceed the constitutional threshold, demonstrating strong support for this call for a special session,” Senate President Ty Masterson announced on Monday in a news release. "We're sending a clear message: we're ready to get it done."
The Republicans are targeting the 3rd Congressional District, the seat of the state’s lone Democratic U.S representative, Sharice Davids. They are seeking to redraw the district's border in hopes of picking up another seat in next year’s midterm election.
