A day after a 19-year-old Delhi University (DU) student accused three men of throwing acid on her , her father was arrested on Monday in a rape case . None of the three men, including the neighbour who was the main accused, were at the site of the incident in Northwest Delhi on Sunday where the DU student claimed that she was attacked, said police.

“The father of the girl has been tracked and arrested in a rape case,” Special CP (Crime) Ravinder Yadav said. Police said he admitted to falsely accusing his neighbour of the involvement in the acid attack. A police officer said that the father said his daughter was carrying toilet cleaner from home. She poured it on her hands herself, a police official said.
