Co-conspirator of suspended Osceola County Sheriff Marcos Lopez , Krishna Deokaran , was arrested and charged with money laundering earlier this month, Lake County court records show.

According to court documents, the 50-year-old was booked into the Lake County Jail on Oct. 6, and was released the same day after posting a $20,000 bond.

Deokaran pleaded not guilty to the charge.

If found guilty, Deokaran could face up to five years in prison.

Investigators described Deokaran as standing “at the helm of the operation, overseeing its financial and logistical framework.”

According to the 255-page affidavit for arrest warrants in the case, Deokaran provided a lot of information about his relationship with Lopez and the sheriff’s involvement in the gambling enterprise while he cooperate
