CARSON, COUNTY (KFDA) - Carson County commissioners approved a tax abatement agreement with Fermi America during a public meeting for a major development project.
The county’s agreement is a two-part contract focused on generation and usage.
It grants a temporary reduction in property taxes as the company invests in construction and infrastructure within the county.
One part of the abatement agreement is based on the power generation measured in megawatts, and the other on the data center’s square footage.
Carson County Judge Dan Looten says this project is unique, noting that while the generation side is structured similarly to wind and solar abatements, the usage side applies specifically to the hyperscale data centers.
