Every fall in Detroit, thousands of volunteers lace up their work boots and roll up their sleeves to head into neighborhoods with one mission: restoring beauty, pride and hope.
When Life Remodeled launched the Six Day Project in 2011 to tackle blight, the nonprofit started one of the most powerful annual mobilizations of community strength in the city. With the recent conclusion of this year’s program, this project has now transformed more than 2,700 blocks, boarded up more than 2,000 abandoned homes, engaged more than 90,000 volunteers and invested millions back into Detroit’s neighborhoods.
