Idaho residents 65 and older could see an average of $6,000 more in their tax deductions this year under a new federal provision eliminating taxes on Social Security benefits for many seniors. It's a part of the Trump administration's "One Big Beautiful Bill."
The 'No Tax on Social Security' provision offers a special deduction for seniors that could benefit approximately 88% of older Americans, said Madison Karayiannis, a representative with Summit Tax Planning.
"Most seniors will be delighted when they are receiving their tax refunds this year," Karayiannis said.
Before the legislation was passed, about 64% of Americans paid taxes on their Social Security benefits. Now
