Local Democratic and Republican leaders said they would prefer mid-decade congressional redistricting would not happen in Indiana, but Allen County’s GOP chair said the state’s hand has almost been forced by other states’ actions.
Gov. Mike Braun announced Monday he is calling for a special session of the Indiana General Assembly to redraw the state’s congressional district maps.
The announcement comes after states including Texas, California, North Carolina and Illinois announced they’d done the same.
Steve Shine, Allen County Republican chairman, said Indiana would fall behind if it didn’t follow suit.
