BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Governor Jeff Landry is calling on LSU to put a statue of Charlie Kirk on campus.
The governor made the announcement in a post on social media Monday night, October 27.
“We’re here on campus, next to Mike the Tiger, and we’re going to put a challenge out to the LSU Board of Supervisors to find a place to put a statue of Charlie Kirk to defend the freedom of speech on college campuses,” Governor Landry said. “Come on, ladies and gentlemen. Let’s see if we can be the first campus to do it.”
Landry mentioned a Turning Point USA event that took place in Baton Rouge Monday night, saying there were more than 1,500 people in attendance. Turning Point USA was co-founded by Kirk and is described as a grassroots political organization.
