SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Mayor Ben Walsh officially introduced people in Syracuse to the Valley Plaza Grocery Store Project Monday night by revealing details about the new Super Imperial Market set to move into the vacant space.

The public engagement meeting was hosted by the Division of Business Development and project partners on October 27 at McKinley-Brighton Elementary.

A.K. Kaid, president of Imperial Market, the company behind the project, hopes to open a store similar to the locations he opened in Buffalo.

"It feels really good to see people participating in it and kind of help us get the motivation out there," Kaid said.

He said the new store aims to create 25-50 new jobs, with a goal to complete the project by the summer of 2026.
