U.S. Senate candidate Josh Turek aligns with Iowa beef producers to oppose importing beef from Argentina. The move comes after the White House's $20 billion aid to Argentina and President Donald Trump's suggestion to buy beef from the country to lower consumer prices.

"It's vitally important that along with looking at driving down costs, we're also making sure we're protecting our farmers and our suppliers," Turek said during an online press conference, Monday.

The Democrat suggests creating policies requiring food like beef to be labeled with their country of origin so shoppers can choose to support locally grown and produced food. Sen. Chuck Grassley has also said the U.S. should not import beef from Argentina .

Turek is one of seven candidates competing for Iowa's U.S.
