BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. — The Town of Blythewood is one step closer to officially changing how it operates.

In a special referendum back in July, residents voted to shift from a mayor council form of government to a council manager system.

On Monday night, town leaders approved the first reading of an ordinance that would make that transition official.

Town Administrator Ed Driggers says residents won’t notice any major changes, but the structure of leadership will be different.

“The general public will not see any disruption to the community in any regard,” Driggers said. “It’s just a matter of the procedure of who our staff reports to and who has responsibility under the new form of government.”
