SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Sioux City’s city council has agreed to allow city engineers to conduct a traffic assessment in the Floyd Boulevard and 4th Street areas of Sioux City.

The project’s consulting group will prepare recommendations for up to three alternate routes for trucks that often travel in that area.

“It’s for that area, those were the two main concerns because we just had them resurfaced so we want to make sure that they last,” said Sioux City engineer Gordon Phair. “We’re just trying to look after our bridges, there’s a lot of truck traffic on there, they do a lot of damage, they’ve hit the signal poles multiple times.”

Phair says that he hopes to have the assessment completed by the start of the new year.
