SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Individuals dedicated to volunteering and public service in Springfield were honored this evening for their commitment to the city.

The event, organized by the Neighborhood Council Associations, recognized individuals for their dedication to volunteering and serving the community.

Springfield city leaders gathered to celebrate the efforts of neighborhood councils and civic associations.

City Councilor Tracye Whitfield praised the volunteers, calling them a lifeline and emphasizing their role in providing a voice for the needs of Springfield residents.

During the ceremony, Whitfield highlighted the importance of supporting neighborhoods, parks, youth, and seniors, noting that the volunteers work on a free, volunteer basis.
