ARGO, Ala. ( WBRC ) - The Argo City Council chose not to move forward with an ordinance Monday night, Oct. 27, meant to address dangerous buildings, abandoned cars, litter and weeds around the city.

The council decided to table the ordinance and cancel the public hearing at a packed meeting. Most councilors said they need more time to research the 23-page document.

“None of it fits us. It’s all too big for us and we couldn’t afford to enforce it. It would be a drain on the city,” said Corkey Massey, an Argo resident who shared the same sentiment as most city councilors.

Councilors say the ordinance is too extensive for their city of just over 4,000 people.
