Union leaders from across Alberta had a group chat Sunday — about a general strike.

They discussed their next move if the province invokes the constitutional notwithstanding clause to end the teachers’ strike.

The UCP did exactly that Monday afternoon. They began legislature debate on Bill 2, the Back to School Act, which includes the controversial provision.

Premier Danielle Smith and her ministers expect teachers and students to be in class Wednesday morning.
