Border Patrol Commander Gregory Bovino, who is overseeing “Operation Midway Blitz” in Chicago, will appear in federal court Tuesday.
Bovino is accused of violating a temporary restraining order issued by District Judge Sara Ellis that orders immigration enforcement agents to limit use of tear gas and other crowd-suppression items except when there is an imminent threat.
Bovino was recorded on video Thursday throwing what appeared to be a tear gas cannister at protesters in the Chicago area, and he’ll be asked about that and other actions by immigration agents during a Tuesday hearing.
