BELOIT, Wis. (WMTV) -Three finalists for Beloit police chief answered questions on Monday from community members during a public forum, addressing topics including community engagement, mental health, recruitment and immigration policies.

The candidates are Town of Geneva Chief Anthony Miceli, Rockford Assistant Deputy Chief Ty Eagleson and Oak Park Illinois Commander of Patrol Investigation and Community Policing Unit Schonella Stewart.

“This position is top for us right now. Top priority,” said Kevin Day, Beloit city council member.

Day said the search has drawn broad community interest.

“Look around the room, again it’s top priority. All walks of life here, business leaders, people coming out to just hear what the candidates have to say,” Day said.
