The penultimate week of the regular season brought some sadness because we know that means football is almost over – but the play on the field certainly made many smile.

It was a quiet Thursday, filled with tons of fun on Friday night and all day Saturday. There were games with massive playoff implications, some terrific crossover battles and everything else a high school football fan could want. Finding a candidate for Player of the Week wasn’t a problem – but picking just five certainly was.

After taking a look at what went down – and keeping in mind that big performances in games that really matter count a little more – we’ve picked the five nominees for Providence Journal Player of the Week for Week 7 and now, we’ll let our readers decide who should win the award.
