The owner of the land where a raucous nine-hour rave kept locals awake until 6am has spoken out for the first time.

West Yorkshire Police were alerted to the event near Riding Wood Reservoir, close to Holmfirth, at around 1am on Sunday, October 19, after hundreds of residents were disturbed by the sounds of the rave.

The deep bass music could be heard over a period of several hours five miles away in Honley, as well as in villages along the Holme Valley.

Over 100 people from across the UK attended the event, including from Manchester and from as far away as Newcastle, Skegness, Derby and Sheffield.

One person was arrested for drink driving, and the police dispersed the event which finally ended at around 10am.
