HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Fighting to speak through tears, Glenn Chaves-Keawe remembered two young men he grew up with, Tony Siufanua and Maikah Hampp-Iriarte.
“I miss my brothers, that’s all,” Chaves-Keawe said.
Siufanua and Hampp-Iriarte lost their lives after they were found unresponsive in West Oahu waters over the weekend.
A growing memorial drew loved ones Monday night to Kaena Point, the last place the two 17-year-olds were seen alive.
“Truly hurt. This is something that came unexpected,” said friend Shaiden Kealoha-Nakila.
A witness told first responders the Waianae High School seniors were fishing Saturday morning when a wave swept one of them off the rocks. The other boy dove in to help.
Less than an hour later, search teams found their bodies.
