DYING WITH DIGNITY
The mooted reforms for the Victorian assisted dying legislation ( “Assisted dying reform debate reopens old Labor wounds”, 28/10 ) are timely and needed to ensure that those who choose to access voluntary assisted dying can do so with ease. It must be remembered this is about choice and not an expectation that everyone must do so.
My partner was refused voluntary assisted dying because two specialists could not agree on his diagnosis, and consequently, he refused food and fluids and took 23 days to die – a terrible end to a productive life.
