HILO (HawaiiNewsNow) - A three-week-old girl who was critically injured in a head-on collision last Thursday has died.
Hawaii Island police said she was pronounced dead Monday at around 5:30 p.m.
The crash occurred on Oct. 23 at around 4:30 p.m. on Daniel K. Inouye Highway, also known as Saddle Road.
Investigators said a 2022 Toyota pickup truck was heading eastbound and overtook multiple vehicles.
It then collided head-on with a 2014 Subaru traveling westbound.
Police said that a passenger in the Subaru, 47-year-old Anina Masaichy of Kailua-Kona, was unresponsive on the scene.
She was later pronounced dead at 7:53 p.m, said police.
Other Subaru occupants included a 4-year-old boy, a 17-year-old girl, and two adults, an 18-year-old female and 51-year-old male.
