Veteran India fast bowler Mohammed Shami has made a strong claim for international comeback with a fiery spell for Bengal as he took a match haul of eight wickets to propel his team to a 141-run win over Gujarat at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Tuesday afternoon. Shami, who last played for India in the final of the 2025 Champions Trophy in March this year, took a five-for in the second innings as Gujarat were bowled out for 185 in chase of 327 on the fourth and final day of the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 clash.

The 35-year-old had also produced a match-winning display in Bengal’s first-round clash with Uttarakhand earlier this month. He took seven wickets in the contest as Bengal won by eight wickets.
