Sainsbury’s shoppers have blasted a big change to a Nectar points scheme - calling it "tedious". Sainsbury's customers have been left livid after being told they will now need to use a QR code in the Nectar app to collect and spend points in Sainsbury’s stores.

The supermarket said the changes will help to “maintain the security of your Nectar points”. But taking to X, formerly Twitter, one customer sniped: “Just received a lengthy email telling me how to access Nectar points.

"Tedious and unnecessary change re bar codes, swiping etc. don’t think I will bother.” Another said: “What’s your plan for those people who can’t upgrade and download the new QR code?
