Barclays has explained the qualifying rules for a £200 bonus payment. The update came after a complaint from a longtime customer who said they were excluded from the offer. The customer took to social media to voice their frustration.

They said: "Great offer for £200 to switch to Barclays. But having been a loyal customer for over 15 years, reckon I am due a cut. Doesn't seem fair I can't get this £200."

In response, Barclays apologised that the longtime customer wouldn't be able to claim the funds. The bank clarified: "You aren't eligible for the account switch offer as this [is] only available to new customers."
