ALEXANDRIA — It’s beginning to look a lot – or at least a little – like Christmas.
At its Monday meeting, the council approved a special event permit for the Runestone Museum Foundation’s “Christmas in the Fort" and "Parade of Trees.” The events will take place on Friday, Nov. 28 from 1:30 to 6 p.m. The event start time is 2 p.m.
Broadway between Second and Third Avenue will be closed for the annual event.
Between 7,000 and 10,000 participants are expected to attend.
In the public comment period, Bryan Van Gorp, who lives on Basswood Drive, asked why the city has been "dragging its feet" in becoming a Minnesota GreenStep City, a state program that helps communities reduce energy, achieve low-carbon sustainability and quality-of-life goals.
