During the government shutdown, Zion National Park, like the Great Smoky Mountains, found creative ways to stay open . Entrance to the park is free during the shutdown, but a donation sign has created an inspiring reaction from visitors . Those who are visiting the park stepped up with donations and are also writing inspiring letters to the park during a tough time.

Visitors continue to enjoy the park. However, a tragic incident has just taken place at Pine Creek Canyon. A man died during a rappelling incident.

Sadly, slips and falls are the most frequent cause of death at Zion National Park. Between 2007 and 2024, 29 deaths have been attributed to slips or falls. Most of the accidents occurred on Angels Landing and other popular trails.
