Patna: The Mahagathbandhan, an opposition alliance in Bihar, has launched its manifesto titled "Bihar Ka Tejashwi Pran" for the upcoming assembly elections. The event took place on October 28 and featured key leaders including Tejashwi Yadav from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Mukesh Sahani from the Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP), and Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera.

Tejashwi Yadav, who is the Chief Ministerial candidate for the alliance, emphasized that the manifesto outlines their plans for the next five years. He stated, "We have given a roadmap, a vision, and we are clear that we will make Bihar number one." The manifesto promises government jobs to one member from every family within 20 days of forming the government. Additionally, it pledges to grant permanent status to Jeevika Didis and make all contractual workers permanent, along with reverting to the Old Pension Scheme.

Pawan Khera criticized the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), calling their promises "jumla" and asserting that the Mahagathbandhan is serious about its commitments to Bihar. He remarked, "Today is a very auspicious day as the state of Bihar was waiting for this 'pran'."

Mukesh Sahani, the Deputy CM candidate, expressed confidence in the Mahagathbandhan's ability to serve the people of Bihar for the next 30-35 years. He stated, "We are forming the government in Bihar. On the other hand, the NDA has no ‘Sankalp’ (resolve)."

In response to the Mahagathbandhan's announcements, Chirag Paswan, leader of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), questioned the feasibility of their promises, particularly the job guarantee, suggesting that it would require a budget of around seven lakh crore rupees to provide jobs to 2.5 crore families. He sarcastically asked, "What’s the big deal in making announcements if you know that you are not going to be in power?"

The Bihar assembly elections are set to take place in two phases on November 6 and 11, with results expected on November 14. The main contest will be between the Mahagathbandhan and the NDA, which includes the Bharatiya Janata Party, Janata Dal (United), and other regional parties. Rahul Gandhi is also scheduled to address rallies in support of the Mahagathbandhan, marking his return to the campaign trail after a period of absence.
