HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The government shutdown is entering its fourth week, and federal workers are not the only ones feeling the impact.
Some Harlingen restaurant owners say they have fallen into the 'red', meaning they are operating without any profit. Some days, they are seeing little to no business at all. Owners say they first started noticing a small number of customers walking through their doors about three weeks ago.
“Some are starting to shut down. They can’t withstand what’s happening. Of course, you have staff, you have rent, your light, your water, everything that comes with owning a business,” said Josie Olivarez, co-owner of Chyann’s Specialty Café.
