GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Beer City Dog Biscuits is supporting West Michigan shelters and rescues with an ambitious goal—donating 1 million handmade treats.

The Grand Rapids nonprofit was started in 2018 with the intention of hiring people with disabilities. Called Brew Bakers, their 300 employees handle everything from molding and baking the biscuits to packaging and customer service.

"Every dollar that is spent on our biscuits goes back into our mission of empowering the disabled," said Executive Director Jennifer Romain.

Other than the proceeds from their dog biscuits, Beer City Dog Biscuits is completely donor-funded. Even the grains used to make the biscuits are donated from Founders Brewing Company, Romain said.
