These are the words of Premier Danielle Smith when the UCP government kills the teacher strike .
Stick a fork in it. Kids are expected back in class Wednesday.
The Alberta Teachers’ Association, the ATA, knew if they played hardball the hammer would come down and it would come down hard.
Teachers rejected two deals and the ATA then came back with an offer no one in their right mind believed would ever be accepted.
The Smith government said the last offer would cost taxpayers almost double the previous deals.
Nate Horner, Smith’s budget boss, said the ATA was messing around, wasting time, being inflexible, proposing the impossible, not being serious.
