PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - Peoria Police said a 20-year-old man has died from injuries he suffered in a shooting that wounded two people Sunday evening in Peoria.

The man, identified as Elisha Gilbert of Peoria, was driving a car that crashed into a traffic sign at North Isabell Avenue and West Merle Lane.

Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said Gilbert suffered multiple gunshot wounds. He was unresponsive, not breathing, had no heartbeat, and was pronounced dead at 8:59 p.m. Sunday at OSF HealthCare St. Francis Medical Center.

Police said an 18-year-old woman who was Gilbert’s passenger was shot in the arm. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
