Almost seven years to the day, the Los Angeles Dodgers found themselves in familiar territory.
Game 3 of the World Series between the Dodgers and the Toronto Blue Jays needed extra innings to decide the winner. Eighteen innings, to be exact.
Freddie Freeman walked the game off with a home run six hours and 39 minutes after the game started to give LA a 2-1 series lead.
“That could go down as one of the greatest games of all time,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters after the thrilling win.
This wasn’t the first time the Dodgers played 18 innings in a World Series. In 2018, Max Muncy hit the walk-off home run against the Boston Red Sox in Game 3 . That game took seven hours and 20 minutes.
Boston went on to win the World Series in Game 5.
