BRUNSWICK HILLS TOWNSHIP, Ohio --- Brunswick Hills Township Trustees Oct. 14 approved the $2,335 purchase of a Stalker Radar data collection unit for the police department.

Police Chief Tim Sopkovich said the unit can be placed throughout the township and can be used to determine where to “target enforcement.” Sopkovich said that the device is not a flashing speed-enforcement sign familiar to most drivers, but rather a more covert machine that gathers information that could be useful to many departments.

“It counts traffic in both lanes, so we can get an accurate record of how much traffic is coming down these roads,” he said. “This will also be beneficial and I can share this information with the service department … [and will] give us information when to put officers in certain areas.”
