QUEEN CREEK, AZ (AZFamily) — Tuesday marks two years since 16-year-old Preston Lord was beaten to death outside a Queen Creek Halloween house party.
Seven young adults are being charged in his death. One suspect, William Hines, has already pleaded guilty to manslaughter and was sentenced to 12 years in prison.
Lord’s death launched a crackdown on teen violence across the East Valley . Several police departments reopened cases and made arrests following the incident.
The case sparked policy changes in cities and at the state capitol. Several Valley cities banned teens from buying or owning brass knuckles , which were used in the attack on Lord. Police departments and cities launched programs to better connect with teenagers.
