The ACLU of Rhode Island is suing Gov. Dan McKee 's administration for blocking activists from holding a protest at the State House ahead of the governor's annual State of the State address .
The lawsuit was filed Oct. 28 in U.S. District Court for Rhode Island. Its lead plaintiff is Harrison Tuttle, the former president of the Rhode Island Black Lives Matter PAC, which has since dissolved.
RI BLM PAC, the Rhode Island Homeless Advocacy Project, and other local groups had planned to hold a "People’s State of the State" rally in the State House rotunda on the night of McKee's State of the State address in January.
