EAST PASSYUNK (WPVI) -- Phila Lorn and his wife Rachel along with partner Jesse Levinson opened Sao on East Passyunk Avenue in September. It is the second restaurant for Phila and Rachel following the critically acclaimed Mawn.

Phila won a James Beard award this summer for emerging chef for his work at Mawn. At his new restaurant the food has a similar style with some dishes carried over from the first restaurant.

The new space has a raw bar at the heart of the restaurant featuring a rotating menu of crudos and oysters. There is also a bar serving craft cocktails created by Jesse.

Sao has 33 seats, and they do hold room for walk-ins at the bar which is something they are unable to do at Mawn.
